"Finding a painter and contractor you actually trust can be difficult, especially when you’re working on an older home. Edwin and his team at PrimeTime Finish exceeded my expectations. They communicate exceptionally well, do quality work, charge a fair price, and genuinely care about the finished product. I have an 1886 home, so it was important to find someone who understood older construction instead of treating it like a newer house. Edwin spent a lot of time walking me through the different siding options and explaining the differences between the original wood profiles, replacement wood, and the various Hardie Plank products. He pointed out where a previous owner had replaced some of the original siding with plywood lap boards that were beginning to warp and explained why they were failing. He gave me separate quotes for replacing the damaged areas with wood, using Hardie Plank where it made sense, and adding insulation after we discovered the original section of the house didn’t have any. He explained the pros and cons of each option, showed me what the finished product would look like, and let me make the decision. If I asked what he would do, he’d simply tell me what he would choose if it were his own house. I never felt pressured. Throughout the project, he respected the history of the house. He preserved the original wood whenever possible, and where replacement was needed, he found a Hardie Plank product that matched the profile of the original tapered siding so the repairs blended seamlessly. We used historically appropriate colors, everything was color matched, and the house looks refreshed while still retaining its historic character. Communication was excellent. Edwin and Noemi were always easy to reach, flexible, and kept me updated with daily progress photos. I always knew where things stood. One thing that stood out was that Edwin owns the company and stays personally involved. He didn’t disappear after giving the estimate. He was accountable for everything happening on the job and made sure it was done the way we discussed. When the electrical panel needed to be removed so the siding behind it could be repaired correctly, he coordinated with an electrician he’s worked with for years. Since the siding was already off, I had additional outlets, exterior lighting, and security cameras installed at the same time. It was obvious he works with trusted subcontractors, not random crews. The crew was respectful of my home, incredibly patient with my dogs, and cleaned up so well every day that the property was spotless when they finished. I tend to research things thoroughly, so I had a friend of mine who’s a well known general contractor in another state review the quotes and recommendations throughout the project. Every time he told me the pricing was more than fair and agreed with Edwin’s recommendations. The pricing reflected the quality of the work, and I never felt like anything was inflated. One thing that also speaks to Edwin’s character is that while he was working on my house, he noticed some rotting wood on my neighbor’s house and took photos while he was already on the ladder so they could address it before it became a bigger problem. That’s the kind of thing you appreciate in a historic neighborhood where everyone looks out for each other. I originally contacted PrimeTime Finish after seeing the work they did on one neighbor’s house. After my project, another neighbor hired them as well, and honestly I think eventually our whole block will probably end up using PrimeTime Finish. That’s probably the best endorsement I can give. I’ll definitely be using PrimeTime Finish again. I’m already planning to have Edwin back for additional general contracting projects.
